Fold mountains

This Nainital villa brings together the love of the mountains and sustainable design

A single bedroom adjacent to a combined kitchen-dining area forms the lower level, with a small lush garden outside. A quaint wrought-iron table and chairs dot it, and a matching staircase leads to the upper floor. A small balcony opens onto the master bedroom with a small adjoining bedroom (also with its own separate entrance), both with wooden mezzanines with low beds which are perfect for children. The master bedroom has floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the trees outside and a glimpse of Lake Naukuchiatal below. All bedrooms are well stacked with books and board games. Pets are not accepted.

The kitchen is well equipped, with Chef Mahesh able to turn even the simplest pulao into a great culinary affair with unique flavors, excellent presentation and brilliant local chutneys.

Young Pankaj helps with housekeeping, and the courteous manager Tauhid comes once a day to check on your comfort and organize all the outdoor activities which are plentiful here. Lake Naukuchiatal offers boat rides, kayaking and even zorbing! Bird watching tours, village walks and special fishing trips can also be arranged if requested well in advance. It is possible, however, that once here you decide to give up the need for any activity and simply revel in the good life, the good life.

Getting There

La Belle Vie is located in Naukuchiatal, an hour’s drive from Kathgodam Station and less than two hours from Pantnagar Airport. Bhimtal is a 20 minute drive away and has a market for all needs. You can drive up to the entrance, and a few steps lead down to the downstairs room, easily accessible to elderly people with assistance.
